This piece is both reflection and inquiry. The concept of privileging agency came to me through academic study, but it has also been something I have noticed in my own practice and in the lives of those I work with. When I sit with it contemplatively, I notice the ways it shows up in my body as feelings of powerfulness and powerlessness. I notice how often wellness and social systems place the entire burden of change on individuals while ignoring the structures shaping our lives. This reflection is an invitation to pause, notice, and consider what arises for you when you contemplate power in this way.
